Theatre Nursing Job Role

The role involves a wide range of disciplines including:

*Ensure preoperative checks and prior to the administration of any anaesthetic or surgical procedure.
*Psychological Preparation using appropriate communication.
*Physically monitoring the patient using electronic devices.
*Process Management ensuring safeguards against wrong wrong operations
*Pre-Operation checking including of swabs, instruments, needles etc,
*Report discrepancies to the Anaesthetist / Surgeon / Theatre Manager or Senior Member of Theatre Staff on Duty.
*Respond to incidents relating to the intervention/treatment with an appropriate degree of urgency.
*To ensure that correct aseptic techniques are used at all times.
*To administer medicines in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council guidelines, Policies and Procedures.
*To deliver high quality patient care which is clinically effective, evidence based and appropriate.
*To assess, plan, implement and evaluate care as part of a collaborative programme of patient care.
*Organise and prioritise own workload to ensure provision of a quality service.
*Keep accurate and complete records consistent with regulations, policies and procedures.
*Demonstrate an organised, effective and timely approach to all tasks.
*Correctly follow routine maintenance schedules and procedures for equipment.
