The Paediatric Nursing job role varies from Adult nursing (although you train as a adult nurse first), as paediatric nurses specialise in childcare and childrens health only. This can be at the start of a child’s life after they are born, to caring for the results of an active life (broken limbs, accidents,etc) to child monitoring and assessments for social care and services. Teaching paediatric nurses also play a specific job role within the school setting and are always available to help with healthcare and nursing support. Paediatric nurses are well aware of their responsibility to support the child both physically and mentally so that the experience of care within a hospital does not affect the child’s development. Care settings including schools, day centres, hospitals, clinics, in the community and homes and be based upon part time, full time and shift working patterns.
